STUDY ABROAD OPPORTUNITIES: SOPRON UNIVERSITY

Higher education in forestry, a long-standing field of study, the educational core of the university began with the institute established for training in mining and metallurgy. The School of Mining Officers was established by decree of King Charles III, signed on 22 June 1735 in Selmecbánya. Maria Theresa laid the foundation for academic education with a decree signed on 22 October 1762. A joint meeting of the Treasury and the Royal Mining and Mining Chambers in June 1807, discussed the establishment of a School of Forestry, in addition to the Mining Academy. Sopron University has a continuous focus on education and research, developing its strengths guided by the vision and traditions that characterize the University of West Hungary and its predecessor, Selmecbánya Academy. The main goal of Sopron University is to further strengthen its research capabilities and promote internationalization. The University intends to offer more study programs taught in English.
